RILKE WALK WITH TOUR GUIDE

The meeting point is Trieste. The Rilke trail is one of the most beautiful and enchanting walk which connects Sistiana to Duino and looks onto the Gulf of Trieste – rising straight from the sea. While having the stroll you will be able to see four panoramic viewpoints from which the beauty of the surrounding area can be admired. The trail runs along the “Reserve of the Duino’s Falesie” and is named after the poet from Prague R. M. Rilke who, after being hosted at the Duino Castle at the beginning of the last century like Dante did before, drew inspiration from it to write his famous “Duino Elegies”. This unique and spectacular area represents a naturalistic point of great interest. It is the most significant example of the link between the wonderful roughness of the Karst Plateau and the Mediterranean sweetness, the transfer from the Mitteleuropean biogeographical field to the Mediterranean one.

The guide will introduce you to the natural beauty (flora and fauna) of this prestigious place.
