THE PARENZANA

TOUR by FAT BIKE, electric pedal-assist bicycles. Duration: 2 days/1 night

From Trieste to Groznjan. Half board in the hotel.

Second route: Groznjan-Porec.

Distance of approximately 120 km.

Cycling symbol of Istria, the Parenzana is one of the most famous and fascinating European cycling lane. From Muggia the cycle path runs up the river along the right bank of the Rio Ospo, after a short hill the path merges into the sediment of the old railway.

Beyond the border, continuing slightly uphill you will reach Scoffie. Countryside and vineyards accompany the ride and give you the most genuine perfumes and colours of Istria. Following the lettering D8, the track will take you to lap the city of Koper, continuing then back to the sea to the lovely town of Izola. After riding through two tunnels – the second of which is the longest of the track – you will reach a splendid view of the sea: from above you see Portoroz, the jewel of the Slovenian coast overlooking the Gulf of Piran. Along the road to Savudrija and Umag you will reach the “Istrian lookout”: Buie. The town on the right pass by the old station in order to find the cobblestones path to Grožnjan. From there, you will enjoy spectacular panoramas in the quiet of the woods. Descending through viaducts and tunnels, you will then reach the village of Portole, then Livade, which is the Istrian truffle capital. After passing the town, the road will take you to the old station of Motovun made by sandstone. You will proceed then towards the sea to reach the terminus, a few hundred meters from the historic centre of Porec.

Price: € 225.00 per person. The fee includes: half board in hotel, bike hire for 2 days and insurance.
